Ammo comparison

Saw a cool video on Youtube, called “30-30 vs 308 vs 30-06 – Cast Iron Skillets” at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BkKzit3Icck

From the same person, WHO_TEE_WHO,  there’s video of “Shooting a Dumbbell 30-30 vs .308 vs 30-06 vs 300 win mag” at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kBQQXPM56ew

WHO_TEE_WHO also ran a couple of comparisons using paper paper as a target, one called “30-30 vs 308 vs 30-06 – How Many Paper Plates???” at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9YIDfZu_rp8

and another called “9mm vs .40 cal vs .45 ACP – How Many Paper Plates???” at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g8VeXwj4aWQ

Bass Pro Shops

Well, I visited Bass Pro Shops the day before Thanksgiving and the place was crowded, to say the least. There was a line of perhaps 25 people waiting to be served at the gun counter, and some of the stuff that was in their circular were already sold out when I arrived at 12:30. I picked up a few things including about 2100 rounds of ammo. They had a killer price on .22LR ammo, I got a box of 1600 rounds, final price after rebate, less than $40. Also got a box of 9mm ammo, the price, a reasonable but not great $99.99, (it included a metal ammo box). Some of the others things I bought were the replace stuff that disappeared in the move from Albuquerque.

Sportman’s Warehouse

Went to SW on Tuesday to pick up a few thing that I’ll need for a trip. Visited the web site afterwards and checked out what they have in black powder rifles. They have a Thompson Center Impact in camo and weather shield with a scope. I used to own a T/C blackpowder rifle and sold it with a heavy heart, maybe it’s time to renew the relationship.

First Time

Clark-County-Shooting-Complex-Logo_flat

Well, I finally got off my ass and went to the shooting range yesterday. It was my first time to the Clark County Shooting Complex and count me as very impressed. I was a regular user of the shooting range back in Albuquerque, but this facility is magnitudes different in execution. WOW!!! I was at lane 49, there must have been 75 lanes. The target stands were much better than Albuquerque’s and the inserts in the ground actually held the stands pretty much vertically. Have to bring my black powder rifles here. Sunday, I just brought a Savage 64 FXP (.22 LR) and a Smith & Wesson 15-22 (AR-15 lookalike). I just bought the Savage and wanted to finish aiming it. Got that done, but it was more painful than it could have been because I only had one magazine and it holds 10 rounds. I have ordered an additional 2 magazines but they come in separate order and it hasn’t arrived yet. I had the shakes (I have tremors from one of my medicines) so aiming was a pain, but i finally got the gun to fire pretty close to the center of the target, but if I was to go hunting squirrels or prairie dogs, I wouldn’t be able to hit anything.
